Rachel and I had a dog named Tulip. Rachel got Tulip as a puppy when we were living in Portland, Oregon. Rachel named her Tulip because, at the time, she was working at a nursery and potting tulips all day. Tulip was half Australian Shepherd and half Black Lab. Rachel likes to point out that Tulip only cost $25. What a deal! Check out some pictures of her below.

Tulip likes snow.

Tulip was a great hiking dog. Here is a picture of her wearing her dog pack on a trail in the Aldo Leopold Wilderness in New Mexico.

Tulip liked to make sure her toys were in the proper place, which usually meant in the yard. The hamburger and the soccer ball were two of her favorites, perhaps tied for second place behind the Frisbee.

Tulip had many distinct facial expressions. Here, she is looking a little pathetic, hoping to get her way (in this case, she wanted to get moving down the trail).

When we moved away from the United States, Tulip went to live with Rachel's parents in New Hampshire and Rhode Island. She died in 2013. She was 16 years old.
